What the price includes
At Walgreens and CVS the price is for two printed 2 × 2 photos. Whether a digital copy is included differs: Walgreens, 2 prints, digital copy by email included; CVS, 2 prints; digital copy $3.99 extra at select stores.
You need a digital file, not a print, to renew a passport online or to fill in the DS-160 visa form. If that is why you need a photo, check that the store includes one.
